The sun rises over the eastern corner. A long row of tea trees on one side of the tea garden; On the other side is a vast rubber plantation. The paved road passed through the middle to the distant water. That sunlight has come on the leaves of tea and rubber trees.
Along with tea plants, rubber is cultivated in tea plantations. There is some variation in the work plans and activities of its workers. They are mainly morning workers. They have to be busy collecting rubber cos early in the morning.
The work of tea workers starts from 9 am. But the start time of Rubber Workers Day program is 6 am. During this time they have to get down to work. They followed the instructions to work for six-seven hours continuously.
On the first morning, the rubber workers of the tea plantations will welcome you when you visit the tea plantations. Their busy faces are bright in the sweet morning sun. On Tuesday (January 1), a rubber garden in the suburb of Srimangal witnessed similar New Year activity.
About rubber work, Lakshmi Pradas said, with the help of a special type of bent head, the cut area of the tree is kept slightly. As soon as the area is renewed, the white rubber pus starts coming out. This juice continues till afternoon.
More sap comes out from the rubber tree in the winter season. It decreases in hot season. 250 liters of rubber is collected daily from 1200 trees. And the daily wage for this work is Tk 102, said the rubber worker.
Rubber workers do two types of work on the tree. The first step is to re-cut the cut part of the tree. The second task - After a few hours, the rubber stumps formed by the oozing from the tree, they collected the stumps and took them to the tea plantation factory. They are sent to Chittagong for processing from tea plantation factories.
